A man who was reportedly beaten when he tried to break up a domestic altercation has died of his injuries. 43-year-old Johnny Gleason passed away late Saturday at a hospital in Springfield where he had been in a coma since the incident on May 3 in Alton.
Twin brothers have already been charged in the incident and are awaiting trial, but now that Gleason has passed away, the case could be revisited. 24 year olds Aaron Hosford of Wood River and Adam Hosford of East Alton have been charged with aggravated battery and mob action in connection with the case. The beating reportedly took place on the large parking lot in downtown Alton bordered by Belle, Piasa, 4th and 5th Streets on May 3 around 3am. Funeral arrangements for Gleason are pending.
