Authorities have identified a man who was shot and killed by police in Granite City on Wednesday. 45 year old Stephen Minsh of St. Charles, Missouri, reportedly called 9-1-1 from the parking lot of a convenience store early yesterday morning, but then got into a confrontation with officers before he was shot.
The shooting happened Wednesday morning in the 32-hundred-block of Edwardsville Road when officers responded to the 9-1-1 call. Authorities say the officers ordered several times for Minsh to drop the weapon and fired at him when it appeared he was raising the gun in the direction of the officers. Minsh was pronounced dead at the scene and a weapon was recovered. The Illinois State Police is conducting the investigation into the incident.
