A Collinsville man could face a lifetime of confinement after he pleaded guilty to a sex crime this week.  19-year-old Jordan Dougherty admitted to the sexual abuse of two young girls at the home of a relative in East Alton in May of 2013, but could be deemed a sexually violent person.

Charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault were dropped in exchange for the guilty plea in Madison County Court.  Dougherty will serve two 10-year sentences consecutively while he serves six years for a sexual assault of a child in Lee County.  He was convicted in an assault on a 9-year-old girl in that case.  The cases in East Alton involved 5-year-old girls.  Authorities say Dougherty’s release could be contingent upon whether he is deemed to be a sexually violent person, which could mean additional time in state custody.
