A Granite City man will spend 13 years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to armed robbery and aggravated battery.  29-year-old Michael W. Garrison was accused of following the victim to a home in Edwardsville after he left the Argosy Casino in Alton in January.

The victim told police he had dropped off his mother at her home in Edwardsville when an armed suspect approached him outside the residence and demanded money.  The victim gave the man $3,400 cash and the suspect fled.  Police were called and began the investigation that involved using phone records, a GPS system to track the suspect’s car and surveillance video from the casino.  Authorities believe one of the other suspects in the case was sitting at a gaming table with the victim prior to the group following the man home.  Charges against another suspect in the case are pending.
