An Alton man will spend 12 years in jail for dealing drugs near a church, but is free on bond so he can receive drug treatment. 43 year old Johnny Lee Stiff of the 800 block of East 7th Street pleaded guilty in Madison County Circuit Court on Monday, but his sentence was delayed until the end of July.
Circuit Judge Kyle Napp agreed to the request for Stiff to remain free until he completes a residential drug treatment program and warned if he committed any more crimes during his treatment it would mean additional jail time. Stiff sold cocaine to a confidential informant on May 26 near the Webster Temple Church of God in Christ on Highland Avenue in Alton.
