A Granite City man has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for distribution of meth. 46-year-old Antonio Avila pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis in May to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He was sentenced on Thursday.
Authorities say Avila was arrested in Madison on June 1, 2013, and was found in possession of 17 grams of meth and a digital scale. He admitted to arresting officers that he had been dealing once quantities of meth in and around Granite City for several weeks. Following his 92 months in jail, he will serve three years of supervised release. The Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois assisted Madison Police in the case.
