A man from Madison will spend the rest of his life in jail after being sentenced to 85 years in prison for sexually assaulting two children. 53-year-old Jerry Sutt committed what Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons called “repulsive” crimes against the two young victims.
Sutt was found guilty in July after a two-day jury trial in Madison County Court of aggravated unlawful restraint and aggravated criminal sexual assault following the crime that was committed in September 2014. Sutt represented himself in the trial. Circuit Judge Kyle Napp called Sutt a “monstrous man” during his sentencing hearing on Wednesday. Gibbons commended his prosecutors for their work and also gave credit to the two victims who also testified in the case. Gibbons also thanked the jurors in the case.
