A Glen Carbon man will spend 9 years in jail for the armed robbery of a convenience store earlier this year. 53 year old Jonathan Malone was sentenced in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis on Wednesday following a guilty plea to several felony charges.
Malone admitted in court that he used a firearm to hold up the One Stop Shop Gas Station in Maryville on January 14, 2016. He was convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence and interference of commerce by robbery. In addition to the prison term, he will have to serve three years of supervised release, pay a fine of $300 and repay the store owner $102.25.
