A man working on a tug boat was killed Thursday when he was knocked into the water.  It happened yesterday at National Maintenance and Repair, a marine transport repair company in Hartford.  23-year-old Jason T. Sagez of Hardin was quickly pulled from the river, but despite resuscitation efforts was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened around 5pm Thursday.  According to the coroner's report, he was working on a barge when a chain broke while under tension, striking Sagez and throwing him into the Mississippi River.  An autopsy indicates he died as a result of blunt force trauma to the pelvis.  Routine toxicological testing remains pending at this time.  The accident remains under investigation by the Hartford Police Department and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
