A St. Charles, Missouri, man has been found guilty of fraud during a trial in Madison County Court.  68-year-old Paul Schneider was found guilty after he tried to make a false filing in the Madison County Recorder’s Office.

In May of 2013, an employee with the Recorder’s Office contacted the Madison County Sheriff’s Department regarding a possible false filing of a lien.  The document referenced a false claim by Schneider regarding a debt with US Bank.  Authorities say because the employee caught the false claim, the document was never filed.  Schneider was found guilty of one count of attempt to unlawfully cloud title.  He will be sentenced in the next 2 to 4 weeks and could face from probation up to a year in jail and a fine.
