An Alton man was sentenced to four years in jail following his guilty plea in connection with a stabbing incident in East Alton last year. 30 year old Lavonte Brownlee of the 800 block of Washington pleaded guilty to aggravated battery and was given the four year sentence. The charges were reduced from attempted murder in exchange for the plea deal.
Authorities say Brownlee stabbed two brothers outside the B & R Tavern in the 300 block of West St. Louis Avenue on September 2 following an apparent dispute over a woman. The two men were hospitalized, but have since recovered. Brownlee was on parole for home invasion and armed robbery at the time of the stabbing incident. He will be credited with some time already served in the Madison County Jail.
