A South Roxana man is awaiting sentencing following a guilty verdict in a child sexual assault case. 66 year old Harvey Simington was found guilty on Thursday of one count of predatory criminal sexual assault and a count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in a case involving a four year old female relative. It took the jury in Madison County Court just 45 minutes to reach the verdict.
Authorities say Simington repeatedly assaulted the girl over a period of six months in 2011 when she was in his care. She was removed from the home in August 2011 and placed in foster care and in 2012 told her foster mother about the abuse. He now faces up to 30 years in prison and remains in the Madison County Jail without bond. The child remains in foster care. South Roxana Police investigated the case.
