A man who had charges against him dropped in connection with a heroin related death, is facing new charges in Madison County Court.   21 year old Taylor Kennedy of Troy was allegedly in possession of a stolen vehicle last month, and also reportedly broke a window of another vehicle in a theft attempt.   Kennedy was originally charged in a heroin overdose death, but the charges were dropped because the drugs were purchased in Missouri.

He is back in the Madison County Jail, after serving about a year behind bars while awaiting trial in the drug induced homicide case before the charges were dropped.  His girlfriend, 17 year old Shannon Gaddis, died of a drug overdose in Troy, but during the course of the trial it was determined Kennedy was passed out and nearly died of a drug overdose and could not be implicated completely in her death.  And since the drugs were purchased outside of Madison County, current state law could not be enforced.  Local lawmakers are trying to update the law to include drug purchases across state lines.   Kennedy is being held on the new charges in lieu of $100,000 bond.
