A Springfield area man displays his hobby from time to time as a sort of pop-up museum in town. Ryan McCaffrey collects World War II artifacts and recently had them on a sidewalk to set the mood for people going to a veterans' ceremony.

McCaffrey says he does it to pay tribute to his father and grandfather – his own medical problems precluded his own military career. And McCaffrey not only collects, he re-enacts.

“A lot of the guys are descendants – they're German,” McCaffrey says. “It's very hard to comprehend why someone would do that, but if it wasn't done, then we couldn't do our re-enactments to honor the veterans of our communities.”
