A Jerseyville man has been found guilty after he attempted to find a child so he could engage in sexual activity. 40-year-old Timothy S. Griesemer was found guilty of attempted sex trafficking of a minor and attempted enticement of a minor and faces up to life in prison.
The case began in October of last year when he sent a text message to a female acquaintance indicating he was looking for a minor child. The woman contacted Jerseyville Police who enlisted the help of the Illinois State Police and the U.S. Secret Service. On October 10, 2013, Griesemer exchanged dozens of text messages with undercover agents where he again indicated his request and they set up a meeting. He was arrested after authorities set up a meeting with him at a Jerseyville apartment where Griesemer believed he was meeting the minor child. He will remain in custody until his sentencing which is set for December 12. The case was heard in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis.
