A rural Mt. Olive man is in custody after allegedly threatening his town’s police chief.   61-year-old Steven W. Foster allegedly made the threat against Chief Ryan Dugger on Friday at the Walgreen’s store in Bethalto. 

Bethalto Assistant Police Chief Craig Welch tells The Big Z Foster has had “multiple contacts” with police in Mt. Olive, including the alleged incident on Friday.

Welch declined to go into detail on the nature of the threat.  Foster was arrested Wednesday.  He is charged with Threatening a Public Official, which is a Class 3 felony.  Bond has been set at $75,000.
