A case of what may have been mistaken identity left a Glen Carbon couple and their attacker with multiple stab wounds. Glen Carbon Police say 28 year old Grant Connor of Bridgeview, Illinois, reportedly thought he was at someone else’s home when he showed up to a house on Kinder Place Sunday afternoon and pretended like his car had broken down then attacked the residents.
Authorities day Connor asked the male resident if he could use his phone but when the man went to get it, Connor attacked, stabbing him eight times in the head. The 35 year old male victim was able to grab a knife and fought back, stabbing Connor in the throat. The victim’s 33 year old wife was also stabbed as she attempted to help her husband. Another female at the home called 911 during the attack. The couple has been treated and released from a hospital but Connor remains hospitalized under police guard and is facing two-counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of home invasion. Police believe Connor acted alone after arriving in the area from his home near Chicago on Saturday, but still don't know what prompted the attack. Bond has been set at $1.1 million.
