U.S. Senator Dick Durbin says he's disappointed that the Postmaster General is shutting down the Quincy mail processing center. It's part of a plan shave billions of dollars off the postal service budget. Durbin wanted to save the facility and proposed a study that would determine its actual effectiveness, but the U.S. House of Representative hasn't taken up the bill.
Processing centers in Springfield, Illinois and Columbia, Missouri will take over operations for the Quincy plant when it closes next year.
