A Madison, Illinois man has been sentenced on charges related to his illegal sale and possession of a firearm. Monte D. Perry was sentenced and indicted to 66 months. Perry was convicted on 1 count of Transfer of a firearm in Violation of the National Firearms act and 1 count of the Unlawful Possession of a firearm By a Previously Convicted Felon.
Perry was sentenced to 33 months imprisonment on each count, to run concurrently, followed by a 2 years’ supervised release on each count, also to run concurrently. Perry’s previous felony offense took place in 2009. He made the sale July 7, 2014 from a confidential source working with ATF for $350. He was indicted on September 26, 2014. Perry’s charges arose from a controlled buy of a sawed off shotgun. Caught on videotape, Perry is heard discussing the characteristics of the gun clearly clarifying that he knew the shotgun was sawed off. The case was assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Angela Scott.
