The Illinois delegation to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. this summer has been set. Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) will chair the delegation composed of 25 elected officials, 41 at large delegates, 16 at-large alternate delegates and 21 standing committee members.

“We’re very much interested in the president doing well in the election for himself, but also for the other Democratic candidates,” he says. “That will be my role, that will be my perspective.” Madigan says how well Democrats do this election will depend on the economy, which he says continues improving. The Democratic National Convention takes place in Charlotte from Sept. 3-7.
