As the use and sale of synthetic drugs continue to rise across the country, Macoupin County is set to adopt a measure that would ban the sale and possession of such drugs in the county. If adopted, Macoupin county would be one of the first within the state to adopt legislation that would prohibit the sale, delivery and possession of the drugs and also set significant penalties for offenders.

Synthetic drug use is a growing problem in Macoupin County, according to County Board Chairman Andy Manar, who says this ordinance is tougher than what is on the books at the state level.

Manar comments

The measure will be up for adoption at the Macoupin County Board's meeting in March.
