The Macoupin County Board has made a change in its meeting time. Following the March Primary Election when 85% of voters said meetings should be held in the evening, the board made the move to change its meeting time to 6pm, starting in December.

This will follow the swearing in of new board members. Chairman Andy Manar says this is another move toward more transparency in county government.

Manar comments

The board has made many moves toward keeping the public more informed as to how county government works including publishing its checkbook online. Earlier this month, the county announced a budget surplus of more than $219,000, confirmed by an independent auditor.
