Tomorrow would have been Lucy Haskell’s 135th birthday, and a local group is throwing a party in her honor. The Friends of Haskell are inviting you to the party at the park bearing her name on Henry Street in Alton. Activities run from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.
Carolyn Dooley, Chairman of the Haskell Playhouse Restoration Commission, tells The Big Z this year is an extra special celebration.

The playhouse, which sits in Haskell Park on Henry Street, is the backdrop for the summer Muny Band Concerts, is the host of birthday parties, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Dooley says there will be Victorian games, pony rides, music, cake & ice cream, lemonade and more at tomorrow night’s celebration.
