The Elijah P. Lovejoy memorial week continues tomorrow at the Alton City Cemetery. The Lovejoy celebration includes several events around the city to remember abolitionist and free press martyr who was shot by a pro slavery mob in November 1837 guarding his newspaper press.
Trustee with the foundation Ed Gray says the remembrance at Alton City Cemetery begins Sunday at 1:00.

Gray says the goal of the week is to help students and adults better understand the importance of Lovejoy not only to this area, but in American history.
