Illinois Lottery officials say they've had a record breaking year. Lottery spokesman Mike Lang says sales were up about 18 percent and topped two-and-a-half billion dollars. He says part of the reason is because the state rolled out online lottery sales. Lang says the sales of instant games went up 27 percent last year.
He credits that to having games featuring the Cubs, Cardinals and White Sox and the Win For Life series of games. Lang says there were also games that raised money for causes like breast cancer research and veterans.
