The Wood River Aquatic Center did not lose as much water as was thought it might earlier this year.  While the head of the Recreation Department is not sure what accounts for the greatly improved water loss numbers, he thinks it is tied to a series of repairs earlier in the summer – possibly a valve replacement.

Recreation Supervisor Jason Woody says although crowds were down due to cooler and wetter weather than usual, they are looking forward to 2015 and beyond.

He says it will likely cost $150,000 to resurface the slide, and another $100,000 to overhaul the filter.  He says building a new facility is out of the question right now, as the cost to do so would be prohibitive
