Riverbend Head Start and Family Services is working with a local woman who wanted to do something to give back to kids in her hometown.  The new program is called Sponsor a Child, and for $360 a year, a person, or a group, can provide funding the Head Start that is used for early childhood development programs.

Shirley Emmons says wanted to do something local after sponsoring a child overseas:

Emons comment

Emons says the level of $360 was chosen because it's how much she contributes to her child in Guatemala.  Local payments can be made to Head Start either all at once or on a monthly basis.  To find out how to sponsor a local child, go to www.riverbendfamilies.org or contact Riverbend Head Start and Family Services at 463-5946.
