The cold wind and wintry mix of precipitation is making the winter storm that moved into the River Bend earlier today a bit tricky for motorists and pedestrians alike. While street crews began their assault on area roadways with pre-treating activities on Tuesday, the changing aspects of this storm is keeping everyone on their toes.
Madison County Highway Superintendent Gary Stalhut says they are keeping a close eye on the changing dynamics of this storm.
Alton Public Works Director Brad Cunningham says his crews will be out as long as needed.
As the precipitation ends, the wind will pick up and Cunningham says trees and power lines may be at risk. He says if you experience a downed trees and power line, call the police - don't try and deal with it yourself.
