The superintendent of the Alton School District has returned to Alton following a trip that took him to the White House. Dr. Kenneth Spells was selected by the U.S. Department of Education as one of 117 top school leaders from across America to participate in the National Connected Superintendents Summit last month.
The conference brought together officials from around the nation to share approaches considered to show promise in using technology in classes, according to Assistant Superintendent Kristie Baumgartner.

The White House summit will be followed by a series of a dozen or so regional summits that will focus on the digital progress both made and possible by local school districts.
