A Wood River man that brought home a gold and a bronze medal from the recently completed Senior Olympics in Cleveland is looking to improve on his performance. 51-year old Mike Young won a gold medal running in the 4x100 relay, paired with other competitors he brought together at the event. He thinks the team is strong enough that they can reach even higher when they return to competition in 2015.
Young says he is looking forward to the games in Minneapolis in two years.
Young competed in the men's 50-54 age group at the Olympics. He also won the bronze medal in the 50 meter race. He finished 6th overall in the long jump. He also competed in the 100 meters but did not qualify for the finals. He was hampered by a hamstring injury on the third and final day of the Olympics competition.
