The death toll from the first earthquake in Nepal last month has topped 9,000, and with the most recent aftershock, the number is expected to increase.   A local man recently traveled to Nepal to see the damage for himself and says the need is great near the epicenter where nearly every structure was damaged or destroyed.

Dave Runyan is Mission Director for Christian Evangelism in Frontier Areas based in Bethalto, and just returned from Nepal last Saturday.  The group has been working in the country for several years and during an appearance on the Pat Heston Show on The Big Z yesterday afternoon, Runyon says the devastation is intense:

The quake this week was in a more mountainous area and damaged many structures in several small towns that were already unsteady from the first quake.  Runyan says the need now is for financial donations that will be forwarded to their ministry partners in Nepal.  You can find a link to make a donation at
