The Madison County Board approved holding the line on pay raises for Madison County Board members, while offering limited salary increases for three county-wide office holders.  The board voted 26-3 to approve a pay freeze for county board members through the 2016 fiscal year, but did approve raises of 2-percent for the sheriff, county clerk and treasurer in the 2015, 2016, and 2017 fiscal years by a vote of 18-11.

Madison County, county-wide office holders earn just over $103-thousand per year.  County Board members earn just over $14-thousand per year.  The board also approved a lawsuit settlement of $487,500 involving an employee complaint from the regional superintendent's office.  The nature of the complaint was not made public, citing personnel matters, but board members could have requested an executive session to hear the details.  No member asked for a closed session and the payment was approved by a vote of 23-4.
