While the Hampton Inn on the Homer Adams Parkway in Alton is nearing completion, that appears to be the only hotel project moving in the Riverbend.  There has been talk about new hotel construction coming to Godfrey and Wood River, but those talks have not resulted in any solid plans yet.

In Godfrey, the area near the Illinois 255 / 111 interchange had been considered for a project, and in Wood River the area near Illinois 255 / 143 was being looked at fairly seriously earlier this year by some Florida businessmen with Wood River roots.  They pulled the plug on that project a few months ago.  Another project in Alton that has been talked about for years would have brought a hotel / conference center to the downtown riverfront area, but Alton Director of Development and Housing Greg Caffey tells The Big Z the developer could not come up with financing, so there is no activity currently involving that property.

The Hampton Inn project is about a month behind schedule, according to Caffey, with a new opening projected for sometime in August.  The facility will include 84 rooms.
