Starting now, some Riverbend residents can start applying for home heating assistance. Low income seniors and people with disabilities can submit their applications for the state’s LIHEAP program during this special two-month priority period. There will be opportunities before the end of the year for those with young children, disconnected utilities, and finally all other households before the end of the year.
Madison County Community Development Administrator Walter Hunter explains how it works.
Families with young children can begin applying on October first, and open enrollment starts November first. There are sign-up locations around Madison County, including at Senior Services Plus and the Madison County Urban League office, at the county facility in Wood River, or at a host of other locations around Madison County.
