Madison County has obtained funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). The LIHEAP program is designed to assist low-income citizens by offsetting the rising cost of home energy. Households with elderly or disabled members may begin applying for assistance now, other low-income households may apply starting November 1st.

Households applying for assistance must provide proof of income, their most recent energy bill, and proof of social security numbers for all household members. All applicants are encouraged to make an appointment as early as possible.  For more information on LIHEAP contact the Madison County Development Energy Assistance at 618-296-6485.
