While most state lawmakers agree that reforming the state’s pension systems must happen, one Special Session day may not provide enough time to do so. State Rep. Lou Lang (D-Skokie) has his doubts that legislators can come up with a compromise on state pension reforms in one day.

“Unless the governor has plans to negotiate something in advance of the 17th of August, I don’t see how in just a couple of hours on a Friday in the middle of August we’re going to accomplish anything,” Lang said.

He says he supports the governor’s push to overhaul all the state pension systems.

The governor has called a Special Session for Aug. 17.
