Governor Pat Quinn has signed a law cutting the pay of Illinois legislators. For the fourth year in a row, lawmakers will forgo cost of living raises, and have to take 12 furlough days to help ease pressure on the state budget. Representative Robyn Gabel of Evanston sponsored the legislation in the house, saying it’s the right thing to do.

The furlough days will amount to on average a cut of about three thousand dollars for each legislator.
