Juvenile court records would be shielded from public view under legislation that has passed the Illinois House.

 “There apparently is some decision going on in Cook County that would mean that all records are open, and I don’t think anyone had that in mind,” said State Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie (D-Chicago), the sponsor of the measure. “I think the judge who is making that determination believes that he or she is following the law. This clarifies that that was never the intent,” Currie said.
