Expect another meeting between Illinois’ governor and legislative leaders this week. The governor’s office says they have invited the leading Democratic and Republican lawmakers from the House and Senate to meet today in Chicago at the James R. Thompson Center. This will be the third in a series of meetings between the parties in as many weeks.
Last week, leaders said they didn’t discuss specifics of the budget but focused on other items like economic and political reforms. Another issue that was not discussed in depth at last week’s meeting was the state of Chicago Public Schools, which are facing financial dire straits.
