Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey will be able to increase its’ Adult Literacy Programs after receiving two grants totaling $94,000 in grant funding from Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White.  The funding is just a portion of the more than $5.7-million awarded to institutions across the state.

The college received a $35,000 Penny Severns Family Literacy Grant that will be used to provide educational services to parents and children to enhance basic reading, math, writing or language skills. Lewis and Clark Director of Adult Education, Vicki Hinkle says the remaining $59,000 will be used to fund the college’s Project Read initiative.
