Lewis & Clark Community College has been named a Military Friendly School for the third year in a row. The designation is courtesy of G.I. Jobs magazine. The 2013 list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.
Terry Lane, Associate Director of Veteran's Services at Lewis & Clark Community College, says they deal with students who are veterans as well as military students, so there is a presence for both those who are out of the service as well as those who are still in.
A Veterans Resource Center has been established on the third floor of Baldwin Hall on the campus, complete with computers, a TV and resource materials. The Madison County Veterans Assistance Commission and the Illinois Department of Employment Security veteran representatives also use the center for monthly meetings with veteran students.
