Thanks to support from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity an the Illinois Green Economy Network, Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey continues to make progress toward reaching its goal of producing 25 percent of the state’s total energy from renewable energy sources by 2025. A new solar array was recently installed on the Godfrey campus and a fuel cell trainer was recently purchased for use in several courses according to L&C Sustainability Coordinator Nate Keener, who tells the Big Z that the program continues to grow by leaps and bounds.

Keener adds that leadership at the college is committed to providing the best learning opportunity for its students and that they are exploring options to add a micro-turbine, wind energy and other renewable energy tools to the curriculum.
