A panel of lawmakers gave some insight into the fate of Illinois’ budget impasse. It still looks bad. Democratic Senators Daniel Biss and Andy Manar traded polite barbs with Republican Representatives David McSweeney and Patricia Bellock while discussing the budget dysfunction in Springfield.
The Republicans still favor spending cuts while Democrats support more taxes. Senator Manar says not all tax hikes are anti-business.

Lawmakers have until May 31st to approve any budget measure. After that date, it would have to be approved by a supermajority of 71 House votes and 30 Senate votes.
