A new general assembly has been sworn-in in Springfield. That means lawmakers new and old will again begin the process of trying to pass some of the state's most pressing issues. Newly elected state Senator Andy Manar says education funding will be one of his top priorities in the legislature.
Leaders in both the House and Senate say the pension issue is still the most pressing issue facing lawmakers. They've introduced a new proposal which, according to Senate President John Cullerton, includes portions of the House and Senate bills that were considered last session.
