Anita Bedell, leader of an anti-gambling organization, testified that Internet gambling would simply turn any laptop into an unrestricted casino. Lawmakers did not take a vote, though State Sen. James Clayborne (D-Belleville) signaled the concern that more option only shift business around, rather than create new business, citing conversations he has had with managers at the Casino Queen in East St. Louis – which already competes with casinos in adjoining Missouri.
