Sportsmen may once again be able to go hunting for bobcats in Illinois. Hunting bobcats was made illegal in 1972, and the animal was declared a threatened species in 1977. It has since been removed from that list as numbers have grown, says Representative Wayne Rosenthal of Litchfield.

Lawmakers are working on a bill to set up a bobcat hunting season sometime between November first and February first, and hunters would be able to take just one bobcat each season.
