It’s been going on since before you got that first “portable” phone that would barely fit into a purse. The younger generation embraces the newest technology. That's why 40- and 50-something representatives were crowding around 27-year-old State Rep. Tom Demmer (R-Dixon) after session Thursday, marveling at his Google Glass. Demmer wore the device at the suggestion of the House Republican communications team, posting the results as “a day in the life of a legislator.”

“Aren't we cool?” joked Vicki Crawford, the House Republican spokeswoman. “We’re always looking for new ways to communicate with (members’) constituents back home.” “I just think about some of the technologies that we use today and kind of take for granted,” such as e-mail-enabled smartphones, Demmer says. “Today we adopt them and use in our daily lives as normal.”
