Beefed up police enforcement proved to be effective on Illinois roads through the Labor Day weekend.  Alton Police spokesperson Emily Hejna says nearly 300 local police departments across the state participated in the latest “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. 

She says a series of stationary and mobile enforcement details led to what she considers a successful holiday weekend.

Police were on the lookout for those who weren’t buckled up, especially during the nighttime hours, and drunk drivers.
