It’s time to talk about school safety.   After the Connecticut school massacre, Gov. Pat Quinn called for a “school safety summit” to include professionals from the fields of education, public health, and emergency preparedness.  Quinn said teachers are in a noble profession and should be viewed as heroes.

The president of the Illinois Education Association, Cinda Klickna, said, though, that there never seems to be enough money to achieve the kind of excellence she would like to see in education.  Klickna said the closed-door meeting of about forty leaders did include general talk of funding. She said right now local communities do have the option of calling a referendum.
