More recent vehicle burglaries have been reported around the Riverbend, and the focus lately has been in a handful of Godfrey neighborhoods. While some of the bolder thieves are breaking windows or using the hole-punch method to disable the car's lock, most of these incidents are what would be called "crimes of opportunity," as people are not locking their doors when they get out of their cars.

Most criminals in these types of cases are looking for easy targets, and police say the suspects do not appear to be looking for any specific items to steal. Items typically stolen include wallets, purses, electronics, and cash.
